In tech, people sometimes act like they have unlimited mobility and acquiring citizenships is trivial. Almost every citizenship in the developed world (other than a few countries) requires a very long continuous time commitment unless you are extremely rich.
You don’t have many shots if you want to acquire a new citizenship as an adult. You choose a destination and invest all your being (with fingers crossed) until you qualify. This is a terrifying experience of putting it all in one basket.
Let’s not downplay this by trivializing mobility and underestimating what it means to be affiliated to a new country. No middle class tech person is in the position of shopping for citizenships. They have to commit hard to obtain one.
