Looking like a lot of people going back into tier 2 in the UK. Here's a short thread of things I learned from patients and staff on mental health unit, about looking after your #MentalHealth whilst being in lockdown
1) It's a boring one but try to keep a routine. It's important that if you get up at 7am still set the alarm for 7am. Try and have meals at the same time you usually did, etc. Keeping a routine will keep a semblance of normality and make it easier when the lockdown is eased.
2) Enjoy the little things because we won't be able to do big things for a while. If you're able to walk dog really take time to enjoy walk. If you're allowed to get takeaway coffee really saviour the coffee and the journey to get it. The little things become really important
3) keep the human connections. Doesn't have to be deep meaningful conversations. Just waving to neighbour or messaging someone about the weather. We need to know people are in the same boat. Patients say that keeping contact with other people is vital for mental health.
Good luck in the #Lockdown2 and make sure you look after your mental health nothing is more important. đź‘Ť If anyone's got any other top tips feel free to add them.
