OK I'm EXCITED to announce some of our events for the Editing Micro-Festival, a thing I invented bc I thought we should have it. We are extremely lucky that some of the best writers, editors, freelancers, arts workers, thinkers in our community are presenting over 13-15 Nov!!
First up on Friday eve, 13 Nov (!), we've got a roundtable on the relationship between the writer and the editor. It's a melodrama! It's a comedy! The esteemed panel chatting writers and editors will be @kldwarsame, @mxcreant and @incrediblemelk, hosted by Giselle Au-Nhien Nguyen
We've got the wonderful @qianjinghua presenting a workshop on Editing Critical Writing. I am pumped for this! Ey have writing on the arts and culture in The Guardian, The Monthly, The Saturday Paper, SBS, Overland, Meanjin, Witness, Peril and Arts Hub!
The fabulous @incrediblemelk is running The Action Edit, a workshop where she'll talk cohesion, coherence and putting punch into your prose. Mel is a freelance proofreader + copywriter, and the author of three fantastic books -- including one of my faves, Out Of Shape.
Lovely @kldwarsame will be running the Editing Fiction workshop, where he will give you the lowdown on editing your short fiction work for publication, submissions and your pleasure! Khalid is a writer, editor and arts worker and a superb human.
The talented @_budgie will run a workshop on Editing YA, which I am very, very keen on! Alison is one of my favourite #LoveOzYA writers, and they are an *award-winning* author of three novels (including my absolute fave, Euphoria Kids).
And, as I spilled earlier in the week, I will be running our editing Q&A -- a Query and Answer session! I'll answer your nagging grammar, punctuation and other editorial convention questions during my one-hour live session (email [email protected] to submit a query)
I may have a couple more surprises up my sleeve, but I'm SO PUMPED for this micro-festival, everyone. This is going to be the most fun, we have some truly fantastic talent hitting your screens. Every session is video online and it's all available on a Pay What You Feel basis.
Tickets will be available to reserve from Sunday night. Really looking forward to this one :) :) :) :)
