some white ppl need to learn this but you can and SHOULD treat characters of color with the same nuance you treat white characters
yes there are negative stereotypes and archetypes you can play into, but if written properly and with respect, these aren't inherently bad
for example, yes lots of black and brown people have bad experiences with the police, but a lot of us are also susceptible to copaganda, and if written well, the trope isn't racist
hell, I was susceptible to copaganda, and I've had cop related trauma! it's not something untouchable topic, and if written well, it's an interesting topic to talk about
in conclusion: not all things that things that could have racist connotations do, because they can be treated with tact and nuance
yes this thread was made because a yt person on tumble.hellsite suggested that refering to juno as a cop apologist was racist, HE WAS LITERALLY A COP AND IS SHOWN TO STRUGGLE WITH HIS PAST, IT IS LITERALLY A HUGE PART OF HIS CHARACTER ARC
