to give context for people who don't understand filipino: an activist, reina mae nasino, was arrested for things that don't make any sense. much like other countries, our govt dislikes anyone who would speak up about the injustices we're facing.

she had a 3-month old daughter, river, who recently passed away while she was illegally detained. when she visited the funeral, she was allowed to be there up until 4pm but even that was cut short by the police.

today is the burial of her child. the police had her in handcuffs. and they decided to take the remains of the baby away en route to the cemetery. as tradition, filipinos usually march slowly on the way to the cemetery to mourn for their loss.

but the police decided to rush and the family wasn't able to keep up with the funeral car.
