Finally got to Liyue Harbour proper and like folks have been saying, there's no comparison between the two current cities. I've run through and talked to every NPC I can find twice because the Chinese culture runs pretty deep and that presents some translation challenges.
Most prominent example is probably this guy, while "Storyteller" is not an inaccurate title, his performance of 评书/说书 has roots dating back to Song Dynasty folk traditions and was how RotK, Water Margin etc. were originally disseminated.
Being an artistic tradition with such long history, a title like "Storyteller" doesn't quite have the...gravitas but there also isn't a way to get that across without a whole explanation of the tradition.
There's also little things like turns of phrases used to add emphasis and address the audience that lose their impact when translated.
