Why I don’t support this ‘ protest ‘ , a thread :
To the left is the core organizer from the rosedale hwy protest that went viral a couple days ago , to the right is a protester from LA . First and foremost I’d like to say there is no right way to protest however if you are -

Doing it for the wrong reasons , and are not using your platform I do not support it whatsoever .
Day 1 : when showing up to their location , me and my peers were treated as if we were an enemy . ( we were apologized to later on that day ) I started off by greeting those and looking for the leader of this protest to see what were the future choices and steps being taken
The answer I got was that they were doing this long term . I asked if we could do a collab to bring more people out there and actually get signatures for petitions and laws that should be passed in Bakersfield, however I was shut down as soon as the idea of being in new -
Organizers was brought up . The reasoning for not bringing in more people was because ‘ they could not control what the others did , so having a smaller group would make sure nothing bad to happen ‘ apparently Erika has been getting investigated by cops, so if any protesters -
Were to commit a crime there , for whatever reason ( even though we all are peaceful) it would be charged under her name . Her words . As well as I asked if they wanted to protest in oildale , however I was shutdown with that idea because it was too dangerous , now I agree with
The thought of protesting there was dangerous so I did not take any negativity over that. However when I brought up bringing others that was completely shut down , as well as we were advised to not talkback or engage with any trump protesters who would say things against our view
After the talk I decided I wasn’t going to get through to them and just moved to the sidewalk and stood with my sign in the air . I along with 4 other people were holding signs there , everyone else was mostly sitting down , vaping , or talking amongst themselves .
no one there , as far as I’ve heard or noted , talked about future planning for this ‘ movement’ . Whenever any of our members decided to educate them and have a conversation about future planning and arrangements , somehow nobody stayed to listen or would move around.
Day 2 : we showed up around 5 or 6 not really sure exact timing , but now there was about 6-8 people on the sidewalk standing there with signs . That actually made me feel better about the whole situation , except when we got there some of those who were standing now were leaving
The group in question was only about 20 people max . Again they didn’t want their group ‘ bigger’ they wanted supporters before they knew how deep it was going to get . ( again their words ) .
now I’m not a leader , I’m not a good organizer, I’m very vocal about what I’m passionate about however I will not take the leadership role knowing I won’t be a good one . I do appreciate the thought , but there was more Biden props than BLM . More people sitting down than -
Chanting and actually protesting. The photo I posted above is a representation of the entitlement that ranges from races . A white woman can lay down and consider that protesting , while a black woman is on the streets yelling for people to stop killing us .
When given the idea that she should take a break and lay low meanwhile someone else took over and things died down , their response to it was ‘ if she goes , this whole thing will die ‘ which shows you are there for HER and not black lives whatsoever .
this thread is long , I know , but to summarize it up , I do not believe her intentions are pure . I do not believe she is there to make a change , but only to have VALIDATION that she is part of something bigger . She has a platform and I don’t see her using it to her advantage.
My last statement to this whole encounter . We have a right to be angry , we have a right to yell and express our anger towards the enemy and oppresser, you told us to not exchange interaction with the other side ( trump supporters/racists) but you are allowed to speak 1/2
to the biker boys who threatened your life ? When we showed up we shunned by your group and the reasoning being , ‘ we were sketchy and you were on edge ‘ . It’s clear you’re using your entitlement to an advantage and are still shunning down the voices that are meant to be heard
