After obesity, the biggest threat to health in the US is a certain kind of ultra-politicization that's increasingly rotting people's brains. Scandal minutiae and things they truly cannot change erode years of some people's lives.
Partly as a consequence of removing valuable paths to mastery from K-12 years, partly because ADULTS REWARD IT (???), the first thing kids can truly master now is outrage.

Some people do not go on twitter to interact or learn anything but to curate their woe. It is astonishing.
Strongly recommend quitting news and political media. Create things and try to be around people who create things instead.

Try to improve your world with the time you have. To lay a single cobblestone path is to have more virtue than a million hot takes.
If you want to do good in this world, work on technology, or art, or building something beautiful or durable, like a family. Good comes through these things, not from the political churn.

The cobblestone path will outlive you.
Of course I think politics is both interesting and important, but not the 24/7 nonsense stream obsessed with a few passing personalities and whatever they're up to this week. Nothing could be less important.
I know an old lady who is obsessed with the president. She *hates* him. Last Christmas she gave all her friends him-themed gifts. Dolls, toilet paper with him on it, etc. She talks about him more than any supporter. It is very sad.

More people are like her than want to admit it.
