Today I understand “intoxicating beauty.” I stood in a dahlia field surrounded by blooms and I felt drunk with excitement. I gleaned buckets ahead of a killing frost and I’ll help pull and split tubers soon —then have some of each to plant in my field this spring. #FarmHer

I drove three hours round trip to visit one of @ArcadiaFood’s partner farms and I’m just astounded by the beauty.

Like so many of us, their market changed and she had an unusually productive dahlia season. There’s no way I was NOT taking the invitation to “bring some buckets.”

If you texted me btwn 4:30 and 6:30 tonight I filled your inbox with blooms —sorry not sorry. Seeing how many plants she’s got excited me so much. She started w/ 30 tubers 3 seasons ago and keeps splitting them. I KINDA LOST MY MIND.

Small affirmations re: flower farming.

I don’t pretend life is perfect and petals. Today I conquered a personal battle and when I got to that farm I stood in the field and wept for a solid six minutes before I started cutting blooms.

Self advocacy is important.

I forget that sometimes.

Today I made me a priority.

Tomorrow’s CSA is gonna be amaze— I still have to harvest the blooms from my plants! I’ll drop some at the nursing home, then Saturday morning I’m doing a flower pop up at @NaturesNibbles in Alexandria because *everyone deserves beauty to wash away this week.

And now I’ve tweeted about flowers for longer than the incumbent was on air tonight. I hope you enjoyed the distraction!
