Thread on the importance of shooting efficiency.

Casual fans typically focus more on scoring, which tends obvious, than on shooting efficiency, which is less obvious.

Shooting efficiency is ALL points per ALL shots (2FGA, 3FGA, FTA). And it is very important in winning.
TS% is points per TSA.
TSA=FGA+.044*FTA.
In 2020, average TSA is 99.0.
For this thread, let's set TSA at 100.

In 2020, average TS% is .565.
TS+ is TS% compared to average.
So a .565 TS% in 2020 = 100 TS+
Curry's career TS+: 115

If 100 TS+ = .565, 115 = .650

If Curry took every TSA (100 on ave) for his team at his average career efficiency, his team would score:
130 pts

Westbrook: career 97 TS+
= 110 pts on 100 TSA in .565 TS% context

Win % of teams +20 (130-110):
.911 (75-7)
Curry: 115 TS+
= 130 pts on 100 TSA in .565 TS% context

Allen Iverson: career 98 TS+
= 111 pts on 100 TSA in .565 TS% context

Win % of teams +19 (130-111):
.900 (74-8)
John Stockton: 114 TS+
= 129 pts on 100 TSA in .565 TS% context

Isiah Thomas: 96 TS+
= 108 pts on 100 TSA in .565 TS% context

Win % of teams +21 (129-108):
.922 (76-6)
Adrian Dantley: 116 TS+
= 131 pts on 100 TSA in .565 TS% context

Dominique Wilkins: 100 TS+
= 113 pts on 100 TSA

Win % of teams +18 (131-113):
.887 (73-9)
