Senator @joniernst says systemic racism isn't real.

"I would not say just broadly that we have systemic racism across the board."

"...My opponent has stated that she believes our law enforcement officers in Iowa, they are systemically racist and I don't believe that."
Follow-up from the moderator: "To be clear, do you believe systemic racism exists here?"

Ernst replies: "No, I don't. I do believe that you will find racist individuals in those systems, but I don't believe that entire systems of people, of people, are racist."
Greenfield: "Her comments are just misleading. I have not called the police racist. ...But I will tell you this, discussing systemic racism does not mean that any one individual is a racist, but rather that we have to take a look at the discriminations across our systems."
Greenfield: "We do need to march. We do need to protest in a nonviolent and peaceful way to make sure that our voices are being heard. And I am proud of the BLM leaders here in our state who absolutely predominantly have been making their voices heard in a nonviolent way."
Moderator asks Senator Ernst: "Do you believe you have ever benefited from white privilege.

Ernst: "Well I would say, again, it's difficult to determine. Again, I think it goes back to maybe not necessarily racism, but issues of poverty within our communities."
Moderator asks Greenfield: "Do you believe you have ever benefited from white privilege?"

Greenfield: "Absolutely I have."
