It’s pretty dull to look at, but the Pixel 5 is a big deal.
By fixing the battery, getting rid of the gimmicks and (finally!) pricing it properly, Google has built a smartphone that's incredibly easy to recommend – to nerds and normals alike!

My review:
But as good as the Pixel 5's camera software is, the *hardware* is showing its age – as you can see from this comparison.
The Pixel is trying to create a Night Sight portrait with AI, while the Note just needs to brighten the scene; its sensor is big enough to lend real depth.

(That’s just one example; see the video for more.)
Bottom line on the camera: it’s still an easy recco for fire-and-forget reliability, and still more dynamic than most too. But the competition ain't standing still. The Pixel 6 won't be able to use the same old tricks.
