Maybe this will help one of you. (Yes I do this!) When I know I NEED to write, I do something else on PURPOSE. The reason being is: when you feel pressure to DO something, you rebel. Why? Bc you& #39;re an artist and that& #39;s what we do. HOWEVER... if you clean a bathroom...1/
Or fold laundry (and you hate it, like me), when you& #39;re done, you GET to write. It& #39;s a REWARD for doing something else. It stimulates a part of your brain that dislodges dopamine that makes you feel good about yourself bc you& #39;ve accomplished something and get a reward 2/
The reason why this works so well for ME is bc I& #39;ll be fleshing stories out in my mind while I work. So when I finally get to plop down in my chair, I& #39;ve heard the dialogue twenty times and it& #39;s easy to write. Or I& #39;ve realized I need to change the setting from a coffee shop to 3/
a cruise ship or something. It give my brain time to prepare and not be put on the spot. It also gives my rebellious whiny self a chance to hate the job I& #39;m doing (BOO CLEANING!) so my whiner meter has been met. And when I take my seat I think, "Oh boy! I can work on my story!"4/
I don& #39;t know if that helps anyone, but it works for me. Just thought I& #39;d share. I& #39;ve heard a lot of writers that stress when they feel the pressure to PERFORM and WRITE when it should be easy to flow. Believe it or not, writing CAN be fun! I love it. End of thread. 5/5
