why i unstanned blackpink and so should you; a thread

blackpink is yg's main money maker and is their greatest attempt at getting into the western market. bp is not organic and to be honest, they had all their fame and success given to them and didn't have to go through many struggles to get to where they are today.

1. MEDIA PLAY
yg is infamous for using media play (using the media to gain attention from the public with controversial material in the articles.) before debut, yg said that blackpink would be "the next bts" and has "more potential than bts" rather than actually promote bp.

here are receipts when yg media played blackpink as having "the most potential to be successful, more than bts." As yg doesn't promote blackpink normally, he feeds off the fame of other groups to gain attention for blackpink.

blackpink's spotify profile even said this when they debuted, using other group's fame to gain attention: "...Produced and written with Teddy Park, Future Bounce and Bekuh Boom, Square One introduced a "k-trap" style that sounded like 2NE1 blended with BTS."

yg even media played and said that their world tour was sold out. however, people checked and immediately saw that it was not selling out AT ALL and there were many tickets available. yg made it out that there was "high demand" for their american concert but there wasn't at all.

first pic- yg claims there is a high demand from fans. 2nd pic - yg makes fake website and pretends that the concert sold out. but knetz did research and found that the concerts weren't selling out and yg was media playing again about blackpink

then, bp had a fan meet in korea with about 2700 seats and still didn't even sell out... a yg employee said that they gave away tickets for free so the fan meet didn't look empty. thus, yg's mediaplay was harmful for the group's reputation with the general public in korea.

2. MUSIC
after 2ne1, yg said that bp were a "pretty version of 2ne1."
boombayah and whistle were their debut songs. then came pwf and stay. however, even their latest songs now (hylt and lsg) follow the same formula and structure of their debut songs.

the blackpink formula: jennie opens the song, followed by a small section of lisa, rosé and jisoo share the pre-chorus (which was only made to fit rosé's vocal range.) for the chorus they say a phrase in english with a beat drop with notes which are pitched to different octaves.

then, for the next verse, jennie or lisa (or both) sing/rap which goes into a second pre-chorus where jisoo and rosé switch which part they sing. then another beat drop and a bridge which rosé/jisoo/jennie sings and usually the final chorus has 0 vocals and is just instrumental.

blackpink also have a problem with concepts. their image is like "we are bad b!tches! we're badass!" with their debut but, four years later with hylt they were still doing the exact same concept. there is not artistic growth with them. their girl crush concept is dated and old.

there are so many other ggs who have more original, interesting girl crush concepts than blackpink and it is truly amazing what other groups have been doing. then, blackpink falls behind in all of their concepts compared to the other girl groups as they still do the same one.

also, bp claim to have "quality of quantity" (rosé said this too) but most of their songs have a very dated sound and production to them. This is very evident in their album which sounds like it was produced back in 2017 with the generic beats and dated production.

there is a low quantity of blackpink songs, but where is the quality that they promised? even lovesick girls sounds very dated in the production. it sounds like a generic pop song from 2010 which was rejected. some knetz have claimed that most of their songs are 2ne1 rejects.

their lyrical content is lacking.apart from one song, bp do not write any of their own lyrics. secondly, they have no meaning behind them. this wouldn't be a problem if they had more songs and weren't from a big3 company but with the short selection of songs, the lyrics are poor.

jennie's solo is LITERALLY a recycled version of sunmi's gashina as the producers were the same. the only reason why solo was more successful is because it was made by jennie.

3. COMEBACKS
blackpink has had one comeback per year since 2017 and they've only had more than one this year. blacpink's fame and success is ONLY from the very long waiting periods between the comebacks.

if bp had multiple comebacks a year they wouldn't be as viral as they are. The hype of the long waits and the barraging of the fans make people desperate for BP content so people stream like crazy, buy like crazy because the demand is so high but the supply is super low.

This is evident in their latest comebacks. for hylt there was INSANE hype around everything and they broke many records with the comeback including a pak and the yt record. then came ice cream and the hype was less and for the album, there was little to no hype+

the album teasers had even less likes than hylt. With the similarity in their songs and formula, if they released these songs more often, people would be bored of BP’s songs earlier and they wouldn't have the fame. yg made a good decision to keep them in the dungeon.

4. PERFORMANCES
blackpink are not good at performing. you can easily watch their latest comeback stages for pretty savage and there is 0 emotional expression in the girls and they have hardly any energy in their performances.

for example, their performance on gma was atrocious. they didn't have the fancy camera work so the choreography looked b'ad and therefore the performance looked very messy and awkward whilst they also lacked A LOT energy. there were also no facial expressions

their live vocals aren't it either. they also have a lot of bad mr removed vocals (which are accurate before yall come at me) and to be honest, in comparison to the other ggs, they are just an average group with lacking performances. their only good performance was coachella

jennie mostly lip syncs or she just shouts. this is NOT "hyping up the crowd" it's just shouting. jisoo has actually improved but i'm not sure for the other girls it seems like their energy is gone and they have yet to top their debut performances in terms of energy.

4. SCANDALS
blackpink has been in countless scandals to the point where they get away with the most insane things. for their adidas event with DAVID BECKHAM, they arrived 20 minutes late. They made him and the reporters wait and they haven't apologised for being late once.

Reporters call them "the leaders of being late" and knetz have criticised blackpink for always arriving late but getting away with it as they are "yg's bubble.' there have been many other cases where blackpink has been late to other events too.

another example was when blackpink arrived late during an award ceremony and Jang Do Yeon had to extend her acceptance speech in order to wait for blackpink's arrival. they have STILL not apologised for this either.

it is normal for groups to be late once or twice but blackpink have been late countless times and have never given an apology once in their career. it is a recurring habit for them to be late and this is not normal but of course, they are from a big3 and get away with it.

jennie has been in many scandals herself and has never apologised or addressed these:
1. dating scandal (this is a big problem in korea but not
outside of korea)
2. forgetting lyrics scandal
3. parking scandal
4. her old facebook scandal

jennie came from a VERY wealty background. her mother is a director of a South Korean entertainment company “CJ E&M”, she holds the shares of the firm too. her father runs a hospital.

the other members were very wealthy too and they did not have to go through struggles. also, there was a rumour that jennie was a bully in school from her other classmates at the time of debut. this is only a rumour and i will not speak on it but it is very worrying about jennie.

jennie is constantly acting shady or looking angry and annoyed at other people and the other members. blinks defend her and cal her "the unproblematic, scandalous queen" but this is harmful to the other girls and blackpink's reputation. she acts however she wants even if this+

affects the rest of the girls negatively. blinks are extremely deluded in defending jennie for everything she has done. they NEVER call out jennie's problematic behaviour and treat her like she is an untouchable princess. she has an entitlement to her due to her growing up rich.

5. GROUP CHEMISTRY/DYNAMIC
within the blink fandom, there are hardly any jisoo-biased blinks (sooyas). she is the least cared about and stanned member and mostly people who aren't blinks praise her more than blinks themselves. some blinks pretend to stan her, however this is+

only "pity-stanning" where they feel as if they have to pretend to stan jisoo because she is neglected in the group. 99% of blinks are either jennie or rosé or lisa biased and really only care about those members. The main reason why jisoo is the least stanned member is because+

she is not fluent in english and is the only member who fully grew up in korea and is the most "idol-like" member in blackpink. blackpink are presented as a very western feeling group as they don't really seem like typical korean idols which is one of the reasons why they are+

so popular. but when it comes to jisoo, she seems like a normal korean idol in terms of personality and doesn't speak english fluently. blinks tend to neglect her and don't really care about her or stan her at all which is very upsetting to her considering that they are BLINKS.

jisoo seems the most genuine out of the members. there seems to be a tense atmosphere between the other members in interviews especially. rosé and jennie seem to get very annoyed at each other when one or the other speaks first and they both seem to want to speak over the other.

there is no dynamic between the girls like in other groups. they are NOT 'soulmates' or 'sisters'. they seem like friendly co-workers who act nice to each other when they are on camera to portray themselves as friends with each other but this just seems fake to me.

blinks will most likely say "look at this video of them crying on tour" but just because they cried together once doesn't make them immediately soulmates or close at all. just check their instagrams out. THEY DONT EVEN FOLLOW EACH OTHER. also they only ever post pictures of+

themselves and never with the other members. they seem like instagram models/influencers which come together every year as co-workers to make a small selection of average, recycled music.

6. TOXICITY IN THE FANDOM
the blink community is a mess. half of the fandom are solo stans and akgaes and the rest are extremely toxic. they claim to care for feminism and call out misogyny but they are extremely hypocritical.

they say "we want women to succeed in a male-dominated industry!!!" but when it comes to twice, they drag them through the ground and for mamamoo they bully the girls and especially hwasa. blinks have insane selective feminism and only use the "misogyny" card when it benefits+

themselves or makes blackpink look better when in reality, they do not care about any of these issues and only claim to care for feminism.

7. CONCLUSION
