This past few years endometriosis has wrecked havoc on my life. Stopping me from working, seeing family and friends, from being able to eat, pass waste and general day to day functioning.
As this horrible condition progressed to the point I now had severe pelvic, bladder and bowel endometriosis, adenomyosis, pcos and a frozen pelvis, I was forced to have a hysterectomy and a ileostomy (a stoma)
A procedure which usually takes around 40 minutes took multiple surgeons 8 hours. My bladder was pulled down and out of place, my bowel was in ruins, my ureter (the tube which carries urine from the kidney to the bladder) was attached to my ovary
and the rest as you can imagine was just a mess. Albeit the surgery went well and recovery so far has been smooth although I now have ongoing problems with my bladder because of the damage it caused so I’ll be back to see urology in a few weeks.
That aside I’m feeling well though I have a lot of resting to do and a lot of sleep to catch up on 😴 I couldn’t be more thankful to those at @uclh for looking after me and to all those who have been there and continue to support me throughout all of this ❤️
This journey certainly isn’t over but the ending is finally getting closer. 💛 #endometriosis
