My fear is that longtime Democratic politicians don't see as clearly that the entire system has been irreparably broken by the Republicans. They still believe in that "working across the aisle" fantasy.
Even my hero, Hillary Clinton, is guilty of this. She went to Trump's inauguration because she was honoring tradition. Meanwhile, Trump had brought Bill Clinton's accusers to the debate. Any social contract had long been broken.
And when Joe Biden says he would hesitate before "packing the courts," I don't think that's strategy. I think he genuinely thinks it's an extreme thing to do. He wants a return to moderation. To playing nice.
This Feinstein thing is crazy. The Repubs have violated all norms to ram in their chosen justice to set our country back 50 years and she's congratulating Graham on a well-run hearing? HUGGING him? I'm speechless.
I'm going to revisit this thread to say one last thing. When we have a president who refuses to denounce QAnon, who refuses to denounce the terrorists who plotted to kidnap the governor of Michigan, this cosplaying of civility is even more INSANE.
