Here's my resume in a tweetstorm form. (please note that this is literally my first tweetstorm ever. Also, pls ignore typos{need an edit button})
2012: joined One of India’s most prestigious private university for computer science at the time. Learnt coding and competitive programming for 4 years only to realize I didn’t enjoy doing it.
2015-2016: shifted my focus to maths and data science. Enjoyed doing data analysis and visualizations. Did a bunch of online courses to get my hands dirty.
2016: deemed unemployable by top-tier CS companies on-campus. emailed a high-growth startup CEO and got myself an analyst job.
2016-2017 - worked my a** off at the job. Became jack of all trades. Mastered vlookups, pivot tables, pandas and Tableau. Dabbled in design, marketing, operations and documentary production on the side. Deployed strategies that brought 15% increase in annual revenue.
2017 end - felt stagnated. Quit job with hopes of going to a Canadian university. High hopes but bad GRE results. Joined India’s largest startup incubator(T-Hub Hyderabad) as their sole data analyst.
2017-2018: became a generalist in the truest sense. Consulted multiple startups with data analysis. Helped said incubator with SEO, design and IT operations.
2018- opportunity came knocking at the door. Wework was growing crazily in India. Person building a product growth team reached out with favorable terms. Good opportunity with new challenges. Agreed to join by end of 2018. (Also, applied to colleges on the side as a backup)
Till Jul 2019- worked at 3-people product team. Worked with CEOs, sales, finance, real estate, design, marketing, ops, engineering, and community team. Learnt from all, gave dashboards in return. (Legend says there are still dashboards made by me being used at biz review meetings
Aug 2019- quit job. Spent time with parents to figure out a future plan before joining college (Still no idea about that though)
Sept 2019 - joined college. Realized cut-throat competition in job market. Faced unfathomable amount of rejections. Pulled up my sleeves and got to networking. Found few great mentors. Found no PM guidance in uni so built a community around PM with 20 people attending every week.
1st week of March 2020 - had 3 final rounds lined up at 3 companies for PM positions.
2nd week of March 2020- all companies cancelled last round interviews. Went back to grind mode..
1st week of April 2020 - got hired as research assistant for International Business and Strategy course for my skills as data analyst. Subscribed to alot of substacks and Stratechery for good information diet. Got into single-origin coffee brewing.
Last week of June 2020- researcher was happy with my work. Agreed to hire me on for 3 more months. Got good tools for improving coffee-brewing skills.
August 2020 - grind mode in full force. Reached out to all mentors and friends. One of them came back with a job prospect. Emailed the hiring manager, got on a call, went through 3 rounds of interview. Finally hired as a PM intern.
Sept 2020- built 2 product roadmaps. Learnt a ton about accessible software building. Completely overhauled product analytics for said products.
Oct 2020 - really hoping I get a call from Twitter.
