thread of all of palaye royale’s scandals (& ways they’ve bettered themselves) so that misinformation can stop being spread:
starting this off by saying i’m not trying to justify anything nor am i trying to persuade anyone to like them if you’ve been hurt by these scandals. this is for new fans who are confused by misinformation + i just want to put everything out there so we can recognize & move past.
1. sebastian’s transphobic comment.
in 2018 (i think) in an episode of their web series, royal television, when seb was asked why he doesn’t wear makeup like his brother (because remington often wears a lot of stage makeup) he said that he doesn’t like to because he feels like he would “look like a tr*nsv*st*te.”
i’ve seen people say that he said remington looks like [that word] in an insulting way but that’s not true. still it was very distasteful + hurtful. you can choose to forgive him if you want (& are in the community that can accept said apologies) you can or can’t & that’s fine.
however, he has since learned a lot, bettered himself & is an ally to the community. it was a terrible, hurtful choice of words & it’s off-putting, (i was taken aback by it too when i first heard about it) but he has since apologized profusely & learned from it to become better.
all of palaye are open about how much they love & support the LGBTQ+ community

2. black lives matter movement & the bastards album release.
on may 29th 2020, palaye released their album “The Bastards” that they’d been working on for years. they were excited to promote it & they did all over twitter. but as we all know, the tragic death of George Floyd occurred may 25th 2020 (3 days before the release.)
if you know about how music & the industry works, dates for releases are made far in advance (+ it’s not easy to convince your label to let you change the dates because they’re often times set in stone) so they went ahead & released the album in the midst of these events.
a lot of people found this incredibly insensitive because of the timing of it all & people were upset with the way that they didn’t say anything about the situation for a few days and continued promoting.
i ask that you keep in mind record labels put a lot of pressure on bands (especially in the first week of release) to promote their albums & get a good first week on charts or else they can be kicked from the label due to poor numbers (like a brand deal- you can’t back out of it)
people quickly informed them that this wasn’t okay & educated them to say something & use their platform as they should because they have a big one. they then realized that they were being insensitive & started to speak less of the album & more about these issues.
they protested along with others in la for weeks on end

the only thing i will say though is that sebastian did post a lot of videos of the various protests, not blurring out protesters faces & that is not safe nor was it okay. to my knowledge though, no one shown in those videos faced repercussions due to sebastians videos.
they then held a live stream acoustic show where they donated all of the proceeds to an organization to help the cause. they raised $5000 for it which is a lot more than other bands have done to help.

3. d*niel c*rcio

palaye had a touring bassist named daniel curcio who recorded bass for the bastards & he played live with them on their tours since 2018.
i think around june 8th or 9th?? it was brought to light via twitter that daniel had been talking to underaged girls (fans of palaye’s) inappropriately. here are some screenshots below.
on june 10th palaye tweeted that daniel no longer works for the band & that his actions don’t reflect palaye as a whole.
they swiftly fired him & dmed victims who came forward & made sure they were okay. (i’m not gonna share screenshots of the dms but please note that i have mutuals/friends in the RC who were affected & i have seen the dms myself). just know they handled this all very well & fast.
4. patty walters & sebastian drama
i am running out of tweets in this thread so just read this:
i really don’t know why he said this & it hurt me to be honest as a fan with anxiety. but he resolved it with patty & apologized to the public for speaking like that about patty. i think he might’ve just had personal beef with him & took it out in a strange distasteful way?? idk
