THREAD

It's common these days for critics of this business to suggest we err in our inability to find fault in 1.) ourselves & 2.) the powerful.

And while sometimes, yes, that's true...I would like to offer a story that makes me darn proud of what this business can sometimes do
Last year, photojournalist Mike Grady ( @ghostfacegrady) and I spent a number of months working on a story that forced us not to just take a look at journalism...

...but at a pharmaceutical company's practice of sending its drug into jails and prisons.
This was a challenging story. It forced us to look inward at media practices.

it also forced us to challenge assumptions in and out of this business.

In the end... however... I'm darn proud of this story. And now, apparently, someone else agrees...
This weekend, @RTDNA awarded our story one of the top broadcast journalism awards in the country...

"A Vivitrol 'Success' Story" received the national Edward R. Murrow Award for best Hard News story in the country among large TV stations.

Yeah.
Thanks to all of my bosses at 9News. @MeganInTheNews @timryan9news @mcornetta

and also thanks to @erickdavid and @lindaknews

you all make good journalism possible.

and you all make me proud to work in this business
And, by all means, don't hesitate to criticize me for things you feel I need to be criticized for
