1/6 There have been many instances throughout history up to the present day where science has been misappropriated to propagate ideas that have no basis in fact, such as the pseudoscience that has helped perpetuate scientific racism.
2/6 @MGHCAREResearch and @helenhemley developed a thread touching on a few of the many instances throughout history where the Black community has been exploited and abused in the name of science. While these things may be difficult to discuss, it is important to acknowledge
3/6 how these historical events have shaped the society we live in today and how they created a very justified lack of trust and lack of true scientific partnerships between scientists and Black, Indigenous and People of Color individuals.
