Part of the reason many of us chose to join twitter was b/c, when we joined, it was anti-censorship & very open

Now that the market has settled, they are walking back on that commitment

No, it wasn't a legal agreement, but this switcheroo is a form of fraud
It's not a form of fraud that is prosecutable, no. But the dishonesty offends people's moral sense & feels like a betrayal.

People built networks, businesses, communities, based on that original promise. That's why they chose Twitter.

They can't "start over"
This is why the "if you don't like it just go somewhere else" is such a weak tea argument

It discounts the things that users value, treats our very reasonable expectations as stupid, makes a mockery of the time and effort people put into the platform based on those expectations
