How to get more grip on your emotions??

// Thread//
The process of emotions can be pictured on a timeline, the emotional timeline.

Emotional timeline:

Trigger → Emotional Reaction → Behavioral Response.
What is emotional agility?

Emotional agility lets you face your emotions.

You give your emotions a proper name and take time to properly understand why they exist.

Once you understand, you will be able to move forward.
How to work on your emotional agility.

I present you 7 steps you can undertake.

Simple not easy.
//Before you react//

1. Recognize the process of the emotional timeline. What was the trigger.

2. Respond after a loooooong pause. Don't give all the power to the emotion.
// What you can do instead//

1. Recognize the emotion, name it and share it.

2. Rest. Know when it is necessary to let the rage pass away.

3. Re-asses: Choose a proper constructive emotion instead

For ex. Empathy instead of frustration.
// What do to afterwards//

1. Relate: Discover the relationship between unwanted emotions and previous events. What is your story?

2. Re-align: Tell a new story! You are not the same as yesterday.
