My Japanese grampa answers one of THE krbk questions:
Bakugou Eijirou or Kirishima Katsuki?
Me: Bakugou Eijirou or Kirishima Katsuki?
Grampa: What??
G: Is this about your hero kids?
M: Yeah, I’m writing something!
G: So which character I like more?
M: Nono, remember Belt Boy (Bakugou) and my Favourite Boy (Kirishima)?
G: Yes.
M: So imagine they got married
M: Which last name-first name combination sounds best?
G: Bakugou.
M: That was quick, why?
G: They’re heroes, and Bakugou includes è±Ș (the kanji for powerful). It’s a good omen.
M: People usually like Kirishima Katsuki more yknow
G: It makes sense for westerns. Your values are in what’s pretty and Kirishima Katsuki holds better aesthetic value due to the double K and rhyme.
G: But for us Japanese what matters most in names is the meaning. If they’re both heroes, they have to value power right?
M: Yeah but isn’t 爆 (Baku) like bomb? Doesn’t it mean like powerful bomb?
G: You could read it that way, or you could read it as bomb of power, which I think as heroes they’d like.
M: So Bakugou Eijirou.
G: Bakugou Eijirou.
G: Hello to the Twitter 😃
And there you go, guess who’s going to be writing Bakugou Eijirou from now on, also credits to @rdztz for actually making me question this! (Also for their amazing thread which I loved)
