tw // languages barrier
(a thread)
hi, so something happened recently and I want to tell you this in a politely way.
a friend of mine, who doesn't speak english as first language made a really small mistake. and EVERYONE, even if the sentence was clear, had to point that out
okay, listen, we (people who doesn't speak English as 1st language) are trying our best to make YOU understand us.
do you know how hard it is to think in another language and need to translate instantly every word??
probably, if you dont speak more than a language, you don't.
and the funny thing, is that if we make a mistake (most of the time) in your language is the end of the world. but I can bet that you cant even think of a simple sentence in my language
so please, we really put LOTS AND LOTS of effort into make YOU understand US.
there's no need to be mean or to be a grammar teacher. we dont need that, you make us feeling worse. there are nicer ways to correct someone. so please, watch out for your words.
BE RESPECTFUL. WE TRY OUR BEST EVERYDAY BC BEING IN AN INTERNATIONAL FANDOM ITS NOT THAT EASY. AND IF WE ARE IN THIE FANDOM, WE ARE GOOD AT ENGLISH. yes, we arent born in England or in America but we learn English everyday. so if you have the need to point a little mistake out-
in a NOT POLITE WAY you basically insult our work. so please, be careful with your words, because they can hurt. thank you for reading.
