Other thing I've noticed is a 20 yr trend of diminishing the expertise of well-educated people. So, maybe PhDs just don't want to be "convinced" by talking heads and pundits anymore. Don't want our interpretation of data? That is totally fine. Enjoy your shit river...

When you drive an information train, you get to decide whether you're driving it through beautiful countryside on into a shit river. One thing I have learned as a faculty member is, I'm not obligated to do the backstroke when the train is being driven into the shit river.

So, Nate has made his opinion clear about PhD expertise. You get to decide whether you want to swim in his shit river.
