Conversation about forgiveness:

A (difficult) thread.
𝐐: Can others forgive themselves for doing me wrong, before I accept to forgive them?

𝐀: It hurts, but they can. Forgiveness must starts in their own heart and can't be disingenuous. Only then they can forgive who has hurt them as well, or receive forgiveness from others.
𝐐: How can they forgive themselves, how can they love themselves after they hurt me?

𝐀: Forgiveness is a continuous process. Love for thy self doesn't come back instantly, especially if it was never there in the first place. That might have increased how much they hurt others.
𝐐: How do people who keep hurting others think or feel?

𝐀: It's hard to assume how most people think, yet we can be sure that causing pain to others never comes from a place of feeling good or peaceful. That is regardless if someone feels guilty or not for hurting others.
𝐐: What if I never want to forgive them? I want them to hurt.

𝐀: Embrace where you're at. Whatever you're able to extend now β€” even anger β€” is sufficient. Wishing for them to hurt might give you a sense of control, but eventually you as well will have to forgive yourself.
𝐐: Why do I have to forgive myself? They're the one who hurt me!

𝐀: Full circle. They had to pardon themselves in order to forgive who hurt them and only then, they were able to crack themselves open. Same for you. You forgive yourself, only then you can welcome more love.
𝐗: You're making me upset, Valencia!

𝐀: I'm making me upset too. I understand the process of forgiveness, yet it doesn't mean that I've never been hurt nor went through trauma. I don't rush myself to forgive, it's a personal journey. I hope others don't wait for me to move on.
*It's good to understand that we each have different processes and desires. We're never under any obligation to forgive anyone. Forgiveness is not a level that has to be attained nor a reward. The goal is for us to live a life that feels harmonious to us, that's the only goal.
