CW: Angst w/ Happy End, Secret Relationship
----

Katsuki waited for a half an hour in his room for Izuku to come. His classmates believed he literally went to bed at 8, but that was far from the truth. He used this time to cuddle and kiss his boyfriend. A very https://twitter.com/softlybkg/status/1315692742438256643
peaceful hour, sometimes two hours of just being with each other before Izuku had to sneak back into his room. It was a routine they had established ever since they started dating. It was nice, but Izuku was ruining it by being unbelievably late.

"The fuck is he?"
He decided it would be best to investigate by finding the extras in the common room. They were watching a movie together.

"Can you assholes turn that shitty film down? I'm trying to sleep!" He lied as he scanned the room. Izuku was nowhere to be found.
"Oooh sorry, Bakugou. We thought it was low enough." Ochako said as she turned the volume. "That better?"

"Sure." He stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Shitty ass Deku ain't with you?"

"Nope! He...uh..where did he go?" She muttered to herself. "Oh yeah! He went to train
a bit in the gym! I think the one where you guys played that tag game. Catch-A-Kacchan, right?"

"Tch, of course that asshole is training." Katsuki rolled his eyes, feigning annoyance. In reality, he was panicking. These idiots just LET Izuku go out to train when he's
supposed to be resting! Did they just forget he nearly destroyed himself fighting Shigaraki 3 weeks ago?!

"I don't think he's been there too long. Think you could grab him, Bakugou? Ochako asked. "It's close to curfew."

"Whatever." Katsuki slipped on his shoes and walked
outside it was a warm night, so he was fine in just his tank top and sweats. When he got to the gym, he immediately saw Deku practicing his kicks.

"Deku!" He called out with a glare. "The fuck are you doing?!"

"Oh hey, Kacchan!" He smiled. "Just working out, getting a bit of-"
"You're supposed to be resting." He said in an annoyed tone, but Izuku rolled his eyes, letting out a small laugh.

"Kacchan I'm not even doing anything major."

"You're supposed to be resting."

"I'm taking a break from resting." Izuku kicked the air a few more times until
he heard Katsuki growl.

"Why the fuck do you bother going to the hospital if you're not gonna listen to the doctors?" Katsuki crossed his arms. "I thought we talked about this.."

"Oh my god, I'm just practicing my kicks. I haven't even activated my Quirk.."
"Doesn't matter. You shouldn't be doing shit." Katsuki hissed. "Hey! Don't walk away from me!"

"If you're going to nag me, can I at least walk? I want to walk."

"Me calling you out for doing stupid shit is nagging now?" Katsuki followed him.
"The doctor said I'm not allowed to use my Quirk." Izuku said. "I'm not using my Quirk. I just want to move. What are you mad about?"

"Because it's never just something with your ass! I give you an inch and you take 3000 miles!"

"What the hell are you talking about?"
"It starts out as 'I'm just walking, Kacchan' to 'I'm just kicking this sandbag, Kacchan' to 'I'm just using my Quirk for 5 minutes, Kacchan!' and you know it!"

"So what, you want me to ask permission now? Like I'm a grade schooler?"

"Yes cuz I don't trust you!"
Katsuki yelled. "You haven't proved to me that you won't do anything stupid!"

"I don't have to prove anything to you, Kacchan!" Izuku stopped walking to face him. "It's not your job to protect me!

"The hell it isn't! You never put yourself in account! And somebody has to-"
"You don't have to anything! You're not protecting me by constantly getting on my ass for wanting to move around! You're suffocating me!"

"I'm suffocating you by making sure you don't hurt yourself?"

"I don't want you stressing yourself over me so stop it!"
"You're my fucking boyfriend, Deku!" Katsuki cried. "I kind of have to care about you, you selfish asshole!

"You're not caring about me! You're coddling me! Nagging me!" Izuku dug his fingers into his curls. "It's like every little thing I do is a problem!"
"Because it is, moron!" Katsuki was tearing up as he continued to yell. "You're not listening to me or the fucking doctors and it's pissing me off!"

"Everything pisses you off at this point!" Izuku threw his hands up in the air, so exhausted and angry at the same time.
"If you used your brain for more than 2 seconds, you'd realize this shit isn't healthy!"

"Nothing about being a Hero is healthy, Kacchan! I'm risking my life to save everyone anyway!"

"How the fuck can you be a good Hero if you never give yourself a break?!"
"I don't need breaks!" He growled through clenched teeth. "I need to be stronger! I need to be better! What I don't need is your constant bitching!"

"Take my fucking advice and I wouldn't have to bitch at you!" Katsuki gripped his tank top, "You stupid, selfish piece of-"
"Yeah, I'll take your advice and take a swan dive off the building if it meant I could get away from you!"

Pure silence was shared between them, both of their mouths were open as they stared at each other in shock. Tears immediately rolled down Katsuki's cheeks, while
Izuku began to tear up when he finally registered what he just said.

"I...oh my god..K-Kacchan I-I didn't mean that."

"Fuck you." Katsuki wiped his eyes as walked away towards the entrance.

"Kacchan! Wait! Hold on!" Izuku chased after him. "I-I didn't mean that I swear!"
"Leave me alone...you made your point."

"Kacchan! Babe! Please!" Izuku grabbed his shoulder, but Katsuki ripped his arm away from his touch.

"Get the fuck away from me!"

Izuku watched helplessly as Katsuki walked out the gym, leaving him to his own remorse.
He flinched when Katsuki slammed the door behind him. The sound echoing in the room, further emphasizing how much he fucked up.

"Kacchan..." He raised his arm out towards the door, but let it fall down to his side as he own tears fell. "I didn't mean it."

[TBC]
Izuku couldn't believe he said that..why did he say that?! He was just so angry that he just blurted it out like it was nothing.

"I'm an idiot. I'm a freaking idiot." He muttered to himself over and over when he ran back to the dorms. He had to apologize ASAP.
The common room was dark with the only light coming from the TV. Their class was watching some movie.

"Hey Mido-bro!" Kirishima turned around with a smile as he flexed his arm. "Late night workouts are super manly, dude."

"Haha...yeah thanks." He said as he scanned the room.
Katsuki wasn't here. "Well I better get to bed. Worked myself to the bone."

"You sure you don't wanna stay and watch the movie with us?" Ochako asked.

"Positive. Just really tired, sorry." Izuku waved them off and headed straight for the elevators to Katsuki’s floor.
"Kacchan?" He called, knocking on his door. "Kacchan, are you there?"

"I said fuck off!" He yelled, his voice was hoarse and unsteady.

"Kacchan, I'm sorry! I didn't mean what I said." He placed his hand on the door. "Just please listen to me."
"Listen to you?!" Katsuki ripped the door open, scaring Izuku half to death. Tears continued to fall down his cheeks as he glared at Izuku. "You want me to listen to you when you never listen to me!"

"K-Kacchan!" Izuku looked around, "Keep it down someone might hear!"
"Are you serious?! That's what you care about right now?!"

"N-No! I just don't want-"

"EVERYONE IS DOWNSTAIRS!!"

Izuku wanted to cry seeing Katsuki so upset. He had to restrain himself from hugging him, it would definitely piss him off even more.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I care about this! I care about us! I do!"

"No the fuck you don't!" Katsuki's grip tightened on his door. "I'm tired of always be made the asshole here and I'm done! I'm done with you! Fuck you, Deku! I hate you! I FUCKING HATE YOU!"
Katsuki slammed the door into Izuku’s face before he could even get another word in. He stared at the door until his vision blurred with his tears. He quickly wiped them away, making the trip back to his room. He didn't deserve to cry. As he laid in bed, he grabbed his phone
to send a quick text.

[I'm sorry Kacchan. I love you]

The next morning, Izuku woke up to his text not even read. With a sigh, he got dressed and headed for the U.A. building. Once he made it to class, he saw Katsuki sitting in his chair doing some work.
His eyes were puffy and he had a scowl on his face.

"He cried this morning..." Izuku thought to himself and it was all his fault. He did this. He couldn't help shaking with nerves as he took his seat not sure how Katsuki would react to his presence.

"Morning, Kacchan."

"..."
"You...wanna spar..um..later today?" Sparring was their code for eating lunch together. "Or maybe..."

"I'm taking a break from sparring." He didn't even look at him as he spoke in an angry whisper. Izuku’s heart sank, of course he would use his own childish words against him.
"Kacchan..." He put his head down, feeling his eyes water. "O-Okay..."

For the rest of the day, Katsuki didn't even spare him a glance. In fact, he acted as if Izuku didn't exist. It was like middle school all over again, but 1000 times worse.
It didn't matter what Izuku did, sitting next to him on the couch in the common room or purposely muttering around him! Katsuki's bored expression never changed.

This torturous silent treatment went on for two weeks and Izuku didn’t know how much longer he could take.
Unlike Katsuki, Izuku can't bottle up his emotions. He wears his heart on his sleeve and if something is upsetting him...he lets it show.

"Midoriya?" Iida asked as they were eating lunch together. "Are you okay? You haven't even touched your katsudon."
"Huh?" Izuku was poking at his chicken as he watched Katsuki laugh with his group of friends. Enjoying himself...without him. "Oh um...I'm fine."

"You don't look fine." Todoroki pointed out. "You seem tired. Are you getting enough sleep?"

"Not really." He forced a laugh.
"What can you do?"

"It's not laughing matter, Midoriya!" Iida said. "You should really consider getting a proper sleep schedule."

"Mmhm.."

Iida and Todoroki looked at each other with concern over their friend's well-being.

"Midoriya, is there something else bothering you?"
Todoroki asked. "You know you can tell us anything, right?"

"Oh nothing! Really, I'm just tired..."

The worst part about being in a secret relationship is he has no one to turn to when they fight. They promised each other that night at Ground Beta that they
wouldn't tell a soul about their relationship. It wasn't anyone's business, they loved their privacy. Even if it meant they had to sneak around and pretend to still be bitter rivals, but...this was the worst argument they had by far and he didn't even know how to address it.
"Well..if you need someone to talk to we're always here to listen." Iida assured him. "Now eat your lunch before it gets cold. Here, you want a piece of my sandwich?"

"You can have some of my soba too."

"Heh...thanks guys." Izuku didn’t want to be rude and took
their offerings. As he ate, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. It was a text from All Might.

[Young Midoriya! You and Young Bakugou need to come to my office! I found out some more stuff about One For All and the users!]

"Thanks for the food guys, but I gotta go. All Might
wants to see me." Izuku pushed his food tray towards them. "You can have the rest."

"Okay. See you later." Todoroki didn't waste a second to grab a piece of chicken from Izuku’s bowl. "And take it easy."

"Todoroki is right. You deserve a break."

"Haha, thanks guys, really."
Izuku loved his friends, but deep down he knew if they knew the truth about what was going on..they would agree he didn’t deserve shit.

He watched Katsuki leave the cafeteria first then followed him and kept his distance. All Might must've sent him the text too.

[TBC]
When Izuku walked in, only Katsuki was there. He was looking away, leaning on the arm of the couch with his chin resting in his hand. He sat next to him, shaking his leg and fiddling with his fingers, trying to think of anything to say to make things right between them.
"Um..K-Kacchan?"

"..."

"I...I really miss you..."

"..."

"I wish..you'd talk to me again..."

"..."

"...I know I'm wasting my time, but...I just...I don't know...m-maybe we can talk a little...just a bit?"

"..."

"I'm sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean to hurt you."
"Where the fuck is All Might?" Katsuki muttered to himself, pulling out his phone to play a game. He didn't even sound slightly irritated. Izuku’s heart sank as he let out a exasperated sigh. He deserved that.

"I am here! Sorry for the wait, boys." All Might smiled with
a large tray in his hands. It had three notebooks and a steaming pot of tea. "I was talking with your teacher and lost track of time."

"It's okay, All Might!" Izuku forced a smile. Immediately, sitting up as straight as he could. "What did you..uh..need to show us?"
"I've done a bit more research on better training techniques to control Float and Blackwhips." All Might explained as he poured the tea. "And possibly a way to unlock another Quirk."

He handed the strained couple their cups and notebooks. "Just turn over to page 15 and
you'll see what I wrote down."

Izuku turned to the page, but he couldn't pay attention. His mentor's words were being drowned out by his own racing thoughts. Is Katsuki truly done with him? Is he going to break up with him? They've been together now for almost a year now.
Did Izuku really throw it all away because he was a stupid asshole?

"So what do you two think? Would you be willing to try this out?"

"Yeah...the doctor said the dumb nerd is in recovery for another month or two."

"Of course! Young Midoriya needs to be at his full potential
before we try anything else. Right, my boy?"

"Yeah...I-I mean! Y-Yes of course, All Might! I need to be as strong as I can to be the number one Hero after all!"

"Glad to see the fucking loser has his priorities in check." Katsuki casually said, but Izuku knew
it was laced with sarcasm and bitterness.

"My top priority isn't talking to me right now." Izuku said softly in a defeated tone as he took a sip of his tea.

"That priority was never top in the first place." He continued to flip through the notebook, his tone
unchanged.

All Might cleared his throat, feeling the tension between the two boys. He had a feeling something was...off when he first walked in. "...Is everything alright? Did something happen?"

"Ah! Nothing happened, All Might!" Izuku quickly shook his head.
"Just...uh...stress about school and stuff...y-yeah."

"Don't worry about it. None of your concern." Katsuki rolled his eyes and set the notebook on the table. "We done here?"

"Mmm..." All Might squinted at them for a full minute. It was clear he didn't buy their
bullshit answers, but he didn’t want to force them to talk about their issues if they didn't want to. "I suppose that's it for today."

"Then I'm out of here." Katsuki jumped up from his seat and headed for the door. "Thanks for the tea."

"Yeah, thanks All Might!"
Izuku practically ran out the door to avoid anymore awkwardness with the retired Pro.

"How much longer are you gonna keep this up?" Izuku was behind Katsuki as they walked back to class. The hallways were empty, so they were safe. "I don't know what you want me to do..."
"..."

"I've apologized over and over for what I said. I regret it, I really, really do. I was an idiot."

"..." Katsuki started walking faster, but Izuku matched his speed.

"Kacchan, c'mon!" Izuku couldn’t hold back the tears, finally reaching his breaking point.
"I can't take this anymore! What do I have to do!? What do I have to say?! Just...FUCK! Just tell me, babe! Please! Tell me what can I do to fix us?!"

Katsuki stopped and whipped his head around. He walked up to Izuku with a icy cold glare that he's never seen before.
"What the fuck is the issue, Deku? I'm doing exactly what you want!"

"What I wanted? What are you-"

"You said that I'm coddling you, nagging you and suffocating you." Katsuki counted each thing Izuku said to him on his fingers. "So now I'm leaving you alone."
"That's not...Kacchan this isn't what I wanted at all!" Izuku cried, but Katsuki wasn't convinced.

"Too. Fucking. Bad. I'm sick of you not giving a damn about what I have to say. I said I was done and I meant it."

"But I do care, Kacchan! Stop saying that I don't!"
"If you cared, you wouldn't have gotten yourself in this situation in the first place."

"Kacchan.." Izuku whimpered, the tears never stopping. "I'm sorry."

"I don't care."

"Are you breaking up with me?"

"I..." Katsuki turned his head away. "I need a break."
"Oh my god..." Izuku let out a pathetic sob. This couldn't be happening. Not to them. "How long?"

"A few weeks. I can't stand to be around you right now." Katsuki sighed. "Just leave me alone, Deku. I want my space."

"What do we tell the others?"
"Tell them it's complicated and none of their business."

"Okay...this is what you really want?"

"Yeah, I do." Katsuki turned around to walk back to class, leaving Izuku teary-eyed and heartbroken. How could he let things spiral out of control like this?

[TBC]
Izuku was absolutely miserable for three entire weeks. He could barely sleep, thoughts swirling in his mind with the same fears over and over. Is Kacchan just taking time to re-evaluate their relationship or is he just delaying the inevitable?
He missed Katsuki so fucking much. He missed the warmth of his fingers interlaced with his own. He missed his wild laughter and his silly insults. He missed the way he would kiss his freckles when they were alone together behind closed doors.
He was around Katsuki all the fucking time, but he didn’t have his Kacchan. His friends constantly asked him what was wrong, but he only came up with half-assed excuses.

"It's nothing, okay?" He said to Todoroki and Ochako as he walked up to the elevator. "Stop asking me!"
"But Deku...you haven't been yourself in weeks.."

"We're just concerned, Midoriya."

"I told you guys to just drop it!" He hissed thru clenched teeth. "I'm NOT telling you!"

"Deku..." Ochako crossed her arms. "We're your friends...don't you trust us?"
"It's none of your business, Uraraka!" Izuku yelled. "I want both of you to leave me the hell alone!"

He stomped away from them, heading for the stairs instead since the elevator just wouldn't cooperate. When he got to his room, he slammed the door before falling into his
bed face first. He screamed into the sheets trying and failing to release some of his anger and sadness before flipping over on his back. He covered his eyes with his hands, whimpering.

"I'm such an asshole..."

Later that night, Izuku fell asleep until he was awoken by
someone knocking on his door. He slowly rose up, groggy and dizzy from crying himself to sleep for the umpteenth time for the past three weeks.

"Yeah?" He groaned, rubbing his eyes. He tried to get his eyes to focus on the person in front of him, but it was so dark.

"It's me."
"Kacchan?" Izuku jumped at the gravely voice that he loves so much. "Babe..I...w-what...do you want?"

"The break is over. I'm...I'm ready to talk."

"Ah...okay...um..do you wanna come in or...?"

"My room."

"C-Cool.."

They walked together in silence and up the elevator,
making sure to be as quiet as possible to not wake their classmates. Once they were inside, Katsuki sat on his bed with his legs crossed while Izuku sat on the floor, facing him.

"Do...you wanna start or...?"

"Just...give me a damn second..." Katsuki scratched
the back of his neck. "..thinking of what I wanna say."

"Okay." He looked around the room as he waited for Katsuki to collect his thoughts.

"..It really sucked...not having you around..."

"Me too, Kacchan."

"What did you do? On our break, I mean.."
"Nothing. I couldn't do anything. I was too scared thinking about us breaking up..."

"...Yeah, same..."

There was more silence, but it wasn’t awkward. It was just comforting to finally be around each other again.

"I feel like...I'm the second choice to you." Katsuki said
suddenly. "I know I fucked up back then...I'm trying my best to be a better person, a better partner, but...it's never good enough."

"Babe...you've always been my number one."

"It doesn't feel like it." Katsuki sighed, wiping his eyes with his palm, "You never listen to me."
"That's true.."

"Why?"

"I just...I feel like I can handle stuff on my own."

"But why do you get so angry when I tell you to slow down? Or when I tell you to take a damn break?"

"I..." Izuku fiddled with his fingers. "God, this is so stupid."

"No it's not. Tell me."
"I don't like it when you worry about me. If you're worrird about me, then that means I'm not strong enough and that frustrates me and you worry about me all the time."

"I can't help giving a damn about you."

"But you shouldn't have to. I need to protect you. That's why I
keep training. Why I keep trying to go past my limit, so I can be perfect...just like All Might. No one ever worried about All Might."

"Yeah and look what happened to him now."

"That's why I need to work harder."

"Deku...where is all of this coming from?"
Izuku rose up from the floor and walked up to Katsuki to lift up his tank top, revealing the jagged scar on his waist.

"This..." He placed his hand over the scar. "If I was stronger, this would've never happened."

"This happened because my body moved on its own, Deku."
"That’s what I'm saying. If I was stronger-"

"I'm just gonna stop you right there. It doesn't matter if you're the strongest fucking man in the universe and kill things in one punch." He cupped Izuku's face with his hands. "I'm still gonna worry about you."
"But Kacchan..."

"We're a team, okay? We're supposed to protect each other."

"I don't want to see you get hurt."

"And you think I wanna see you almost fucking die a billion times?"

"..."

"Deku..." Katsuki whispered. "I want this to work, but you gotta stop with this
sacrificial bullshit narrative you have in your head. You matter to me. I love you so fucking much."

"I love you too, Kacchan." Izuku whispered back to him. "Okay...I'll take myself into account from now on."

"That's all I ask."

"I'm sorry for...everything."
"'M sorry too..."

"Can I kiss you?"

"Like you have to fucking ask."

Izuku's heart was pounding like crazy before they finally closed the distance between them. He sighed into the kiss, relishing in the soft, warm lips against his own. As Katsuki moved his hands to
tangle his fingers into his curls, Izuku pushed him down against the bed, deepening the kiss, hungry and passionate. They stopped for a moment, panting as they stared at each other.

"God, I missed you..."

"Then show me how much you missed me, nerd."
Izuku never left Katsuki’s room for the rest of night. After being apart for so long, they needed this intimate moment. Everything was going to be better between them now, especially with a newfound understanding and unconditional love.
