I think the more we dig deeper to the future arc of Re:Zero, the more we might receive any philosophical messages and explanations... not just about its personal aspects... but also about its RELIGIOUS/MYTHOLOGICAL aspects that Tappei might secretly plan to convey it.
You see, most religious people tend to have a blind belief towards a certain deity in everyday life. Some of them can be hypocritical on their own ways through their selfish deeds or whatsoever regarding their self-indulgence. Their sense of "logic" in religious perspective—
—can be contradictory from the SUPPOSSED logic in knowledgeable perspective.

It's a clash between science vs. religion.

For Re:Zero example, it's the ideal of Witch Cult. In a specific analogy, Petelguese himself praises and yearns Satella as his "love for his life".
His twisted behavior conveys about its tremendous obsession. Petelguese's heavy obsession towards Satella is not only projecting how Subaru may become, but also it is a fact that it can serve as an irrational effect by its over-the-top extent of reliance towards FAITH itself.
And in the accordance of reality, it is true. Let's take Kenneth Copeland's behavior as an example in this real world. For those who don't know, Kenneth Copeland is a televangelist who "heals" viewers through TV screen. Yeah, you can consider him as a "good" guy for religion.
If you think about it, how does it make similar between Petelguese and Kenneth Copeland?

That's right, the "OVER-THE-TOP EXTENT OF RELIANCE TOWARDS FAITH". It's kinda broad to say, but their sense of attitude and ideal is somewhat connected to what I'm trying to convey.
Abomination... Guilt... Punishment... Cruelty... Ignorance

These traits ties up altogether which Tappei really did a good job to convey the message through Petelguese's character-writing by portraying the fallacy of religious practices.
Thus, Tappei delivers the superb meaning of Witch Cult.

It might not be correct to somebody, but that's what I thought about it.

Another interesting fact about Tappei is his obsession to mythology, such as a certain reference from his screenwriting work, Senyoku no Sigdrifa.
I think that's it. If you've already read this thread, then thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
