Why Frenkie de Jong should be considered a GENERATIONAL talent and one of the best midfielders in the world presently. [A THREAD]

After yesterday's masterclass against Italy, I felt the need to make this thread. Please be nice.

Frenkie de Jong is a multifunctional right footed midfielder. He's often lauded for his gameplay and exceptional qualities on the fooball pitch. Read on as I will be sharing these qualities in the this thread.

Frenkie is one of the most versatile Midfielders of this generation. He can function as a regista, defensive midfielder, central midfielder, holding midfielder, box to box midfielder and even a centre back

His balance and his dribbling abilities are noteworthy. He often uses dummies and body movements to beat opposing markers as in this picture

He's also exceptional at ball distribution. He has mastered how to play football with his head constantly looking up (a skill only a few greats like Xavi have mastered), a few have even compared his gameplay to that of Johan Cruyff.

His distribution skills and vision are laid bare by his former coach (Eric ten Hag), who was quoted saying 'Frenkie is not a goal scorer, He's the player who supplies the teammates who gives the assist or who score goals from their position'

Frenkie also knows how to slow down the pace of the game, but then has crazy acceleration technique with which he easily gets past opposition players. Not every midfielder can boast of this.

Also when Frenkie plays in his best position, he absolutely controls the game. His prescence is always felt when he's on the pitch and when he's off the pitch his absence is felt even more.

Memphis Depay recently said after the Nederland's loss to Mexico 'frenkie de jong is our engine'. This goes to show his impact on the pitch

Also Frenkie is tactically sound, has sharp decision making and also defensively very solid.

Like many other Legends of the game. Mere highlights or compilations don't do Justice to his genius.

All these qualities make him a 'LEGEND in the making' And when all these qualities are inherent in a single player. Your best bet would be to call him 'GENERATIONAL'
