Being called a “terrorist” is almost every kashmiri students story, I have lived in delhi for 3 years, I remember how I was harassed constantly after pulwama attacked took place, I was in school back then & I remember on scribble day, “pathar baaz” was written on my shirt.
Not even a single kashmiri felt safe after the pulwama attack, after graduating school, I went to amity to study further but when 370 took place, I got into an argument with a girl from my class who ended up calling me a “terrorist” & I quote her words “go back to Pakistan”.
That argument escalated into a physical fight, we were suspended from the college but I couldn’t feel safe around there after that, I remember random guys coming up to me and saying “ab tou kashmiri ladkio se shadi manayegey”
These comments actually made me leave amity & literally move out of the country because I didn’t feel safe here, I remember how Noor & my other friend cried in college the day 370 happened because they were being called a “terrorist” in the class.
I remember how my friends have always had a hard time finding a place to rent because “kashmiriyoon ko flats nai dete”, one of my friend was thrown out of his flat after 370 because his landlord said “ab kashmiriyoon ko flat nai dena chahate”
These things have taken place very prominently but are always thrown under the carpet, but it’s high time that we as kashmiris should not be a victim to this harassment, saying “kashmir hamara hai” is really easy but the way we’re treated outside of kashmir shows otherwise.
