/8 Diplomacy clearly does not catch up with the fast developing war in and around #NagornoKarabakh.
We at @CrisisGroup call for concrete steps and actions to prevent more human casualties in this war. https://www.crisisgroup.org/europe-central-asia/caucasus/nagorno-karabakh-conflict/reducing-human-cost-new-nagorno-karabakh-war">https://www.crisisgroup.org/europe-ce...

/8 This is not the time to seat and watch continuous escalation of this fighting. Dozens of civilians have been reported killed. Tens of thousands had to flee the conflict zone. https://twitter.com/CrisisGroup/status/1316452883378909184">https://twitter.com/CrisisGro...
/8 Many prefer to wait till #Russia and #Turkey strike a deal. This is a mistake.
Even more: If this is what we are left with, why all these international organisations with many agreements, laws, mechanisms? https://twitter.com/CrisisGroup/status/1316452885014679555">https://twitter.com/CrisisGro...

/8 The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs should stay in place. In the past they faced complains from both sides. This is not the time to destroy this format. If no Co-Chairs, there will be no one to connect parties. By criticising Co-Chairs, you are effectively prolonging this war.
/8 The OSCE should resume its field activity. We hear about discussions of OSCE expanded presence in the region. Rightly so. In 2016 #Armenia and #Azerbaijan subscribed to 2 mechanisms. It is very time to implement this agreement and start building on it. https://www.osce.org/mg/240316 ">https://www.osce.org/mg/240316...
/8 Russian FM Lavrov says his country is ready to send military observers to monitor implementation of agreements. No other country is ready to contribute? Why not to get involved in discussions RIGHT NOW if really care about future of this region? https://tass.com/politics/1212035">https://tass.com/politics/...
/8 The UN has the most extensive expertise in the field of monitoring and verification. They can and should help OSCE. In parable and coordination with the OSCE, the UN can dispatch a group of its experts for international community to have eyes on the ground.
/8 Again, stop waiting that some miracle will happen, this war suddenly disappears and the conflict gets resolved. This is not going to happen. It is getting worse. If no actions now, tomorrow can be already late.
