Ok i heard back from my source. He says the next fighters have the codenames:

This was already confirmed by the source, but Jim Davis’ Garfield is coming to smash bros. Additionally, he is apparently a combo swordie, using a newspaper to attack his foes. Exciting stuff!

My source doesn’t have any concrete information on this character, but from what i can deduce they are british. “For England” is a phrase that is used repeatedly in the film “Goldeneye 007” which leads me to believe that James Bond is finally making it into smash.

Since this DLC is past fighter pass 2, the source could only tell me that this character was “in the works for a very, very long time.” The obvious pick for me is spider man, and as you all know i am both confident in his chances and hyped for his reveal. HOWEVER...

The hint of this characters age leads me to believe that this character was popular around smash 64. The release of Smash 64, 1998, is also the year of the Seinfeld series finale. It could be a Seinfeld rep, or even a PT style character with the Seinfeld crew.
