I talked about this during the panel today and I’ll share here. (Thread)

There’s a narrative that if we don’t pass Prop 25 it will be nearly impossible to pass abolishing cash bail ever again. I reject this. SB 10 was hard! But it got introduced AND passed (against our wishes)
Our jobs as organizers is to ORGANIZE! And we organize and agitate the hell out of the legislators we put in office! I’m not willing to cower because folks don’t believe we’ll be able to pass it again if Prop 25 fails because if we do that then why do we even organize?!!
I refuse to believe introducing and passing legislation to abolish cash bail that does NOT rely on risk assessments & judicial discretion is impossible. I’m in the business of radical imagination and ORGANIZING. And that’s what I and many others plan to do
As organizers we have wins and suffer losses. When we lose we don’t pack it up and go home & forget about it. We get angry, enraged, yell, rest and live to fight another day! And then we get back out there and organize more.
WE (organizers) create the climates/environments that make radical legislation and overall change possible! We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again. I believe that. And I operate from a place of abundance, not scarcity and definitely not fear.
So I will be voting NO on Prop 25 and come November 4th, me and mine are gonna do what we do best and that’s continue to organize! No matter what and no matter how long it takes cause that’s what organizers do.
And if Prop 25 passes, we’re STILL GONNA ORGANIZE because that’s our obligation either way. This is what we are called to do!

Organize organize organize
I’ll close this thread with this quote from Audre Lorde
