There’s a theme that seems more common amongst us Muslims living in the west- the “I’m open about my sinning” and so that makes me more “real” and approachable whereas those who hide their sins are big hypocrites and fake

This is the opposite of what Islam teaches us
It is very important in our faith to hide our sins. We acknowledge that we all sin but we should not broadcast them to the world. They should be something we’re ashamed of, not something we advertise.

No goodness comes from being open about your sins. It corrupts others
And makes them lose the guilt about their sins and think that it’s not so serious because it’s “normal”. “There are plenty like me” “it’s not only me”
This is arrogance in disobeying Allah

The opposite of what our mindset should be.
Being open about our sins is self sabotage
Allah has concealed them and covered them with His Mercy and it is our duty to feel shame and hide them as He ﷻ has hidden them

Don’t advertise them 🤍
