The impact of labeling Malay language as Malaysian language lies on how it degrades other Malaysians' native languages.

Tamil is a Malaysian language too. Mandarin is also one. Same goes to languages in East Malaysia, as well as West Malaysia's indigenous'.
THIS is our identity. We are all Malaysians speaking Malaysian languages. We must embrace that fully.

This degrading other languages would do nothing to promote the national language. Encourage the usage of Malay language, yes, but not at the expense of others.
There's no harm in saying our national language is Malay language. We need one that can be used to interact with everyone, and it will come from the majority race.

That doesn't mean we cannot celebrate other languages. We should, just as we celebrate different cultural events.
So whenever you see some ads written in non-Malay Malaysian languages, don't quickly accuse them as being anti-Malaysian.

See it as a proof that other races exist, those races have their own ibunda languages, and that those languages are Malaysian languages still.
More about how our own take of a language differs than how others take it, which makes it a part of our identity more. Malaysian English exists and it's unique to us! 🤓 https://twitter.com/JackKinLim/status/1316632537796468736?s=19
And it's not just English - Mandarin has the same case! Basically we need to understand that Mandarin speakers in Malaysia are brought up in Malaysian environment and surrounded by Malaysians, so naturally the language has its distinct Malaysian features! https://twitter.com/reinedeloup/status/1316629998963363840?s=19
On Tamil - the more we learn! 🤓 https://twitter.com/wilde_dorian/status/1316625866852425729?s=19
'Mother tongue' instead of 'native language', sorry. Just realized native language is dependent to the area a person is raised in, while mother tongue is the language that is used by the person's family. 😅
