here's why bi/pan lesbians don't exist and are invalidating to lesbians, written by a nonbinary lesbian:

first off, let's define what a lesbian is. a lesbian is any person who does not identify as male, is not attracted to men, and is attracted to women/fem-aligned nonbinary people.

next, let me define sapphic: any person who does not identify as male, and is attracted to women/fem-aligned nonbinary people. they can still be attracted to men and masculine-aligned nonbinary people.

now, let's define bi/pan lesbian: someone who is both bisexual/pansexual and a lesbian. so attracted to multiple genders/attracted regardless of gender, and also not attracted to men. see? it doesn't make sense.

bi/pan lesbians are insensitive to lesbians because it takes away the label from lesbians, a bi/pan lesbian is sapphic with a female lean, therefore still attracted to men, which makes them not a lesbian, and that's an important distinction and why the label is invalid.

in conclusion: bi/pan lesbians take away the label from lesbians, saying that we can be attracted to men when there is already an umbrella term describing exactly what bi/pan lesbians want, sapphic. stop taking our label away from us. use sapphic instead.
