With the arrival of Hillbilly Elegy, I am reminded of a different tale of dole and woe, from about a year ago. Sit down, my friends, as I tell you a tale of fallacies, falsehoods, and Saorise Ronan: the Christmas Casting Caper of 2019

A little over a year ago, my friends and I found out that a kid from our high school (who shall remain nameless) was cast in an "Untitled Broadway Production." The article claimed he was "starring" in this mystery show.(2/??)
Seeing this news, we were all kind of like "huh weird..." but good for him. I didn& #39;t really know the guy, but I knew he& #39;d had several supporting roles in our high school& #39;s musicals. But then it got stranger. (3/??)
We then learned, through his now deleted instagram and more local news articles, that he had been cast in a supporting role in Ron Howard& #39;s film about the saddest, poorest people: Hillbilly Elegy. (4/??)
Again, my friends and I, and some other people were like "Cool for so-and-so!" None of us really understood the entertainment industry enough to understand how difficult it would be to book two big things like this back to back.
(5/??)
(5/??)
But then! Incredible news! Our classmate had been cast in a FILM version of Spring Awakening as Moritz Steifel, the neurotic, awkward secondary lead! (6/??)
Throughout this entire debacle, our dear friend was also doing interviews, talking about how hard the "work" was and how much he had learned. Meanwhile, people started to notice that a lot of the articles sounded similar....
(7/??)
(7/??)
And then...Shock! Awe! This enterprising young actor had been cast in a second, SECRET, Ron Howard film: a film version of Spy vs. Spy starring Ryan Gosling and the one and only Saorise Ronan...
(8/??)
(8/??)
THIS article claimed that Howard had seen our friend on the set of "Hillbilly Elegy" and knew that he had to meet Ms. Ronan. Their chemistry was INCREDIBLE!!! (9/??)
At this point, we were all like "no way, right??" I mean this guy was a truly mid-rate high school supporting actor. Could there be any way that he had scored all of these roles in the span of about 6 months??? (10/??)
We had come to the realization that all of the articles talking about our protagonist had been written by the same person. Each author had only published that one article, and all were linked to fake numbers.... (11/??)
Meanwhile, he was doing interviews and receiving congratulations from classmates, and my parents started to wonder what mistakes I had made in childhood to not be cast in three films in four months... (12/??)
People on Broadway Reddit started to ask questions...a lot of questions...and a theory began to come together... (13/??)
At this point, people took it upon themselves to contact the CAA agent he claimed to be repped by. Not going to say her name here but she& #39;s a pretty big deal. The question was simple: "Can you tell us more about this actor and his upcoming films?" (14/??)
Her response was simple:
"I do not represent [bleep] nor does CAA." She then said that he had tried to do this MULTIPLE TIMES, so she was glad to get word that he was doing it AGAIN (15/??)

Christmas 2019. The walls were collapsing around him. We had all figured out that all of these casting announcements had been fake, the articles had been fake...everything was a lie. How could he move forward? How could WE move forward? (17/??)
And when we needed his answers, when we needed him most...he was gone... deleted all of his social media, and was never seen nor heard from again. (18/??)
What was the motive?? Why the hell would someone who wanted to act so badly make such bad choices?? These questions remain unanswered, and as the world plunges into darkness I can& #39;t help but thank this silly man for bringing us some light. (19/??)
