A lot of folks are curious about who funds the Federalist right?

I have some answers for you! Let me just pull up my old Google doc ...

OK. Here goes ...

So, the Federalist's corporate entity is registered in Delaware and takes advantage of that state's notoriously opaque corporate registration policies. Not much to glean from those records!

However, despite all the curiosity around who funds the Federalist, it seems at least a partial answer has been in plain sight for some time!

Documents filed with the SEC in 2017 identified a "John McIntyre" and "Jenn McIntyre" as directors on the board of FDRLST Media. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1716513/000171651317000003/xslFormDX01/primary_doc.xml

This was - as far as I can tell - first reported by the great @maxwelltani and @kpoulsen in the Daily Beast ... but there's more!

So, it would seem that the "John McIntyre" on the board of
FDRLST Media, LLC is the same guy who founded RealClearPolitics. Let me tell you why ...

Illinois public records show the same address used by McIntyre in that SEC form has also been used by RealClearPolitics. https://www.ilsos.gov/corporatellc/CorporateLlcController

John McIntyre did not immediately respond to a request for comment from me asking about these forms and whether he is involved with the Federalist.

If it is indeed the John McIntyre of RealClearPolitics involved with the Federalist, it's worth noting that some of his funding seems to also come from Charles Koch. https://www.prwatch.org/news/2019/11/13509/koch-foundations-increased-media-investments-2018s

In conclusion, it seems that John McIntyre and Charles Koch are two of the people we should be looking at when we ask who funds the Federalist.
