Made a code of conduct violation report 24 hours ago & it hasn’t even been acknowledged.

This is not how to build a safe space.

No, I’m not going to tell you where, but I will say it’s a #CodeOfConduct that goes to a general email account rather than a named person. 😒😒😒😒
This thing about a general email address is something that drives me absolutely wild. Why on earth would anyone take the risk of reporting when there’s NO trust built with the organisation / the safety team?
To be very clear, I’m safe. I was reporting behaviour I witnessed rather than harm that was made explicitly to me.

And I am one of the strongest advocates for REPORT even if the answer is going to be that it is ruled to not be a violation.

IT IS STILL stressful & scary to do.
Update, tweeting to 7k followers makes a difference. Got an email (and quite a few DMs from various worried communities 😅) and meeting being scheduled to follow up.

Plan this in advance y’all. There’s no time to figure out processes on the fly.
Thank you to everyone thinking so deeply about safe and inclusive community building, support and maintenance. You are doing GOOD WORK in difficult times.
