Why Luffy vs Katakuri is the best fight in all of One Piece.

I know hella people like to shit on this fight because āLuFfY sHoUlD hAvE lOsTā and no shit Sherlock, Luffy was completely outclassed in this fight but it couldnāt have been against a better opponent, an opponent who was thought to be the perfect character.
Letās begin w/ how Katakuri thought he was in every way better than Luffy (which he was) he was more experienced, more seasoned in fighting and to too it off Katakuriās devil fruit was literally a mirror image of Luffyās thus every attack that Luffy threw at him he was able to...
Counter it and make every move his own and even expand and make it even better. What Katakuri wasnāt counting on was that Luffy would be so hard to take down. At the beginning of the fight he stated multiple times how it was stressful that Luffy was able to dodge so many...
Of his attacks and even though Katakuri was stronger than Luffy, it was starting to weigh on him and was getting to him mentally. Katakuri also had this idea on his head an idea that had been encouraged by everyone else that he was nothing short of the perfect being and when...
He found himself against an opponent who he could not overcome so easily it got to him... but the real turning point of the fight was after Luffy interrupted Katakuriās merienda and Katakuri realized Luffy and the chefs had seen his true face.
But Luffy didnāt care about that, he simply claimed that the fight wasnāt over. Luffy didnāt care what Katakuri looked like, he simply wanted to beat him because he was the man w/ the 1 Billion berry bounty.
At this point Katakuri let his guard down and Luffy was able to land blow after blow and Katakuri instead of praising Luffy blamed himself for allowing something like that to happen. Katakuri was then able to get his thoughts together and continued to beat Luffy.
Then came Flambe... the real turning point in the fight. Katakuri realized that she hd gotten involved and in doing so how could he be proud of defeating Luffy if he got help from someone else, it was at this point that Katakuri instead of bring Luffy up to his level he brought..
Himself down to Luffyās lever, down to earth if u will. He had accepted the true reality that he was no longer a perfect being, that he had been trading blows w/ a man whom he considered inferior to him in every way but a man who didnāt care what he looked like, a man who...
Simply wanted to fight and beat him. Katakuri even went on to apologize to Luffy for what had happened and even stabbed himself to level the playing field. His purpose had changed he was no longer wanting to protect his true character, what he wanted now was to beat Luffy...
Hen we come to Episode 870 which is without a doubt the best choreographed fight in all of One Piece and the animation is as good as it gets. After having traded blows for a VERY long time both Katakuri and Luffy claimed this would be their final attack and it was BEAUTIFUL.
Luffy released Gear 4th but it was different it was Snakeman this time around and it was very different than bounceman thus Katakuri didnāt know what to expect and Luffy was able to land blows w/ out Katakuri even realizing what was going on. But, as stated previously...
Katakuriās devil fruit ONCE AGAIN proved to be too much for Luffy and Katakuri was able to land a massive blow to Luffy.
Hereās my fav part of the episode. After landing such a blow to Luffy Katakuri went on to speak to Luffy and proclaimed that no matter what he would be the one to stop him and called out for Luffy. It was at this point I realized that Katakuri wanted to keep fighting because....
Just like before, Luffy got up again but this time he EXPECTED Luffy to get up, he saw into the future that Luffy was still breathing and he wanted more of this fight that had brought the both of them to their full potential.
It was at this moment that Luffy got up AGAIN to finish the fight and this time he would do so. Luffy had finally taken down the man w/ Billion Berry Bounty but before Luffy was able to get away Katakuri asked him a simple question....
A question to which Luffy simply replied what we all knew, that he would one day become The Pirate King

This fight was more than just Luffy fighting it out w/ an opponent who he had no chance against, this fight was that of character and Luffy proved to Katakuri that it didnāt matter what people thought of him or what he looked like. Katakuri was simply the man Luffy wanted to beat
And to those who say āLuFfY sHoUlD hAvE lOsTā I say that you didnāt understand this fight, Luffy is going to get up no matter what because he is the man who one day will become the Pirate King and above all else he is the man who will rise above it all.
