You should always have a home inspection done when purchasing a home, even if it's a new construction home. There are so many out there and some just offer the bare minimum and then there are the ones they will give you just what you need and more.
Yes, it is cost that a buyer has to endure, as one of those out of pocket expenses, but it is worth it. Having an inspection can give a buyer some peace of mind.
A home inspection can give you a behind the scenes view of how good/bad of a home you're interested in buying is or isn't. Nothing is 100%, but not knowing the potential hazards are way worse then knowing and making a sound decision on how you wish to move forward.
So, don't choose the first one you come into contact with. Always have options. Get with your Realtor and ask them for there recommandations on a few home inspectors.
