Ahmed Gurey was a Somali Imam and General of the Adal Sultanate who fought against the Abyssinian empire. He was from Zeila

Ahmed Gurey and his men attacked Ethiopia in 1540. Gurey was the commander of the Habr Magaadle soldiers. Habr magaadle is the garahajis, arap, ayub and habr awal sub clans.

Ahmed Gurey and the somalis fought the habeshe (abyssinia) and portugal at the same time.

What many failed to know are understand was how strong portugal was. They had technology the rest of the world dont.

Although crushing Ethiopia, Gurey would lose to the joint forces of both of the enemies (ethiopia and Portugal). Sadly, he died in the conflict.

Ahmed Gurey is an inspiration to all somalis. His hard work and dedication is spectacular. I want to be just like him and lead an army against Ethiopia. I will restore the somali pride. Ahmed Gurey's statue is in Mogadishu till this day
