"Real rap" listeners shit on people when they call Peep and X legends. 2pac and Biggie had their own era and they died young and so did these two. What they don't understand is what Pac and Biggie did inspired a generation of youngsters through their music and to some extent
promoted gun violence and the "Thug" persona too. Peep and X resonated with millions of youngsters through their music too. People aren't ready to accept the fact that what they grew up listening to is at least 20 years old and I don't mean to say that it's shitty or outdated.
The thing is Peep and X had a lot of potential and they died very young, they were real in what they expressed. Call Peep a druggie but when you do that look at the number of lives he has impacted. He was pretty similar to Cobain to a large extent.
X had an allegation and so did Pac. I'm not trying to throw dirt on the dead but I'd like to bring attention to the fact that you can't discount an artist's impact/legacy on the basis of their personal lives. Both Peep and X are legends if you look back upon what their music has
done for people. Maybe they could've sold more records than these if they lived a little longer but this isn't what makes an artist special per say. I'll probably add more thoughts to this thread some other day
