#twitterstorians! Pulling together my readings list for my grad seminar in the spring on the 'History of the Global Police State.' We start with colonial policing and end with BLM. What are your favorite books and articles that might fit?

Already some great reads:
We'll be reading Martin Thomas, James Q Whitman, @stschrader1, @jgo34, @marisollebron, probably something by Madie Muschalek, likely @SimonBalto.

Looking for really anything, but esp more on colonial policing, movements against police violence, migration detention.
Anything good on colonial policing in South Asia, @KimAtiWagner?

Any recs on contemporary French policing (incl your own amazing work), @jean23bean?

This is my 'catch up with everything I've wanted to read lately' seminar
@YanSlobodkin I apologize for being so tardy answering your email (I will very soon!) but in the meantime maybe some ideas here...
