The biggest challenge with comparing programming languages is EVERYBODY LIES! They lie about speed, learning time, hidden costs, community weaknesses. EVERYTHING! And the “you can do anything in any language if you know it well enough” folks are the biggest liars of all!
OKAY. That last tweet is a lie. Not everybody lies. You also have the conflict avoidant “why argue? I just choose the right tool for the job” folks who are forever derailing the very discussions where people are trying to debate which tool is good for what.
Actually I take that back. They’re lying to themselves about caring which tool is good for what since they never seem to want to talk about it. And then you have the “I just call X from Y” people who are lying to themselves about how sustainable that is. SO YES. EVERYBODY LIES!
