Found a letter I wrote to family in late 2017, just b4 I gave them some #Bitcoin
https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> on an @OPENDIME. Some things have changed, some things stayed the same. There are four more letters. If this one gets 10 likes (I& #39;m but a small account) then I& #39;ll publish the next one.

Okay... so I& #39;ve sent both of you a small amount of Bitcoin via Coinbase. I hope you took a few minutes to set up an account and claim the bitcoin I sent. There& #39;s no risk and no cost.

Why did I do this? Well, it& #39;s not because I think bitcoin is a great investment (though it probably is). I& #39;m certainly not encouraging you to put any money into bitcoin (though it& #39;s not a bad idea, if you can stomach losing all of it).
So what& #39;s happening?
I think the world is reevaluating what it thinks is money.
If I& #39;m right, then we are going to see profound changes in society in the coming years. And I want you to understand those changes before they happen.

I think there& #39;s a 51% chance that I& #39;m right. Which is to say, I& #39;m right, but just barely.
There& #39;s also a 49% chance nothing will change and this email will cement my role in the family as "the crazy uncle". Fine. I& #39;ll take that risk. It& #39;ll be a fun conversation along the way.

This change won& #39;t likely be very dramatic for the most part. We& #39;ve seen these changes before. The Internet was one of them. It& #39;s fundamentally changed how many aspects of society work because it changed how we communicate.
But here we are. We still have kids. We still have jobs. We still complain about the weather and grill steaks in the backyard. The human aspects of life remain and sustain us.
But then again, there& #39;s Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Uber and the iPhone. A lot has changed.
But then again, there& #39;s Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Uber and the iPhone. A lot has changed.
The first twitter account I followed was an office chair that "tweeted" whenever the person sitting in it farted. Now it& #39;s the main PR channel for the President of the United States and enabled the overthrow of governments across the Middle East.
My point is this... big innovations that cause big changes are often seen as insignificant toys when they first come out.
I think #Bitcoin
https://abs.twimg.com/hashflags... draggable="false" alt=""> is one of those innovations. It& #39;s been derided as a toy for nerds until recently when prices have started taking off.
There are plenty of ways it can still fail, just as there were plenty of ways the Internet could have failed. But the Internet didn& #39;t fail, and look at our lives now.
So I& #39;m going to try and write a series of emails to you explaining what& #39;s happening. What is bitcoin? Why is it money? Why is it important? If it succeeds, what will it change and what does that mean for us? And if that& #39;s likely, what might we do right now to get ready for this?
I& #39;ve been studying bitcoin off and on for a few years now. But I still have a lot to learn. So I& #39;m also writing these emails for myself, to articulate my own thoughts and clarify my own understanding.
You can ignore these emails, if you like. I won& #39;t be offended. But you& #39;re going to be hearing a lot more about BTC in the media and if nothing else these emails will help you put it all into context.
If you have any questions about BTC, please ask and I& #39;ll answer them as best I can. In the meantime, I& #39;ll keep writing.

4 years ago @naval and @aantonop still made sense on this topic and influenced me, so credit where it& #39;s due
And a big thanks to those who continue to push my thinking (and entertain) like @matt_odell @MartyBent @nic__carter @HODLAMERICAN615 @fartface2000 @Bquittem @parkeralewis @BitcoinTina @Breedlove22 @michael_saylor @dergigi and so many others.
