This is a classic & fundamentally racist approach: that the oppressed party be held responsible for the reckless actions of those in power (ex: girls’ clothing being used as a justification for being raped)

But last night, Indigenous equipment, & lobster were destroyed. A van was set on fire. Now consider Belliveau’s suggestion once more: that *Indigenous* fishers need to step back in order to prevent escalation. Who is escalating? Who is behaving violently? This needs to stop (3/3)

UPDATED... on Information Morning rn: RCMP stood by and watched as non Indigenous fishers set fire to a van, trashed the lobster pound. This is dangerous and violent.
