CW: abortion

kinda bothered by some thread i just saw about that old /r/relationships story where a guy made a lady bring an accidentally conceived kid to term, under an agreement she'd have no part in raising it, and even paid above required child support to him, and he's mad
he was mad because he just assumed "instincts would kick in" and she'd take care of the kid (ridiculous misogynist pseudoscience, basically)

that's bad enough, but it just bugs me that like... the lion's share of replies were "he got what he deserved!" or "all men suck"
like.. my first thought was how the kid's life is most likely going to be awful because of this jackass father, and i don't feel like it's too hard to think of that first?? i wasn't the only one to think that thankfully, but most everyone else just seemed focused on schadenfreude
and even beyond schadenfreude, "all men suck" is just a really toxic and excluding point of view

i just like... i don't feel like i should be in the minority for thinking about who needs to be protected first, before vengeance? it's troubling me that it seems less thought of
