So right now I am reading VP Menon's book "The Transfer of Power" detailing the events that took place leading to the eventual independence from British and the Partition of India in 1947
In this thread I will be sharing SSs from that book

The book actually begins far before 1940s and details all set of events and negotiations that took place between the British and the various Indian leaders right from 1910s
It is only the ones from 1945 onwards that are relevant to this thread

One of the first indications as many of you might know of an eventual partition taking place was the provincial elections of early 1946 which pretty much drew the basic faultlines between provinces
It would be interesting to look at the results in some detail
