This morning we'll be putting questions to @OliverDowden, Secretary of State for @DCMS. We'll be sharing key points on this thread, but you can also watch live from 9.30 here: https://parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/e0c11fd2-c610-4dfc-be42-24709bb089a6

Chair @JulianKnight15 asks why the £1.57bn has taken so long to reach sector
@OliverDowden: I wanted officials to evaluate the state of the sector and all the bids. It is better to do it in a proper way to ensure it commands the confidence of the taxpayer who is paying for this.
@JulianKnight15: Do you accept there will be institutions that go to the wall due to delay?

@OliverDowden: I've said institutions in that situation should get in touch. In specific instances we did bring forward grants sooner.
In response to questioning from @KevinBrennanMP, @OliverDowden says it is 'perfectly reasonable' that orgs receiving money from the Cultural Recovery Fund were asked to publicly accredit the government funding and alert local media.
@JulianKnight15 asks if, in terms of reopening, there's no vaccination, no mass testing and the virus keeps rumbling on, what's 'Plan B'? @OliverDowden says there are a number of plans but there is no silver bullet.
@DamianGreen asks if Liverpool and Man Utd's 'Project Big Picture' is a "sugar coated cyanide pill"?

@OliverDowden says more importantly the Premier League and EFL need to do a deal; EFL clubs won't be allowed to fail. But 'Big Picture' is a distraction from that.
